FAQ
Who are
you? Port Townsend
Running Club consists of runners and joggers from all walks of
life. Our primary mission is to link runners with other runners,
giving them opportunities to train together, race together, and
hang out together. Though we have an assortment of far-reaching
goals, our chief objective is to bring runners together and contribute
to a sense of community among Jefferson County residents.
Who can
join? Anyone with
a connection (geographical or otherwise) to Jefferson County
can join. Although our club bears the name of Port Townsend,
we welcome runners and joggers from Port Hadlock, Chimacum, Irondale,
Port Ludlow, Shine, Brinnon, and all points in between. More
importantly, although we boast a fast runner or two, we invite
everyone to run with us, hares and slugs alike. All you need
to join is enthusiasm and the ability to play well with others.
How do
I join? You can start
by contacting us. We'll have
a couple simple questions for you, and then we can go from there.
Does it
cost money to join?
Membership is free (no dues or obligations). But if you want
a uniform to race in or a T-shirt to train in, you'll have to
fork over a small sum. For now, we're relying on volunteerism
and the generosity of our members to support this web site and
any club-related expenses or activities.
How is PT Running involved in the community? At the moment, we simply offer a gathering
place for runners. The future, though, is wide open. Several
ideas are on the table, including staging all comers meets and
road races, creating a scholarship fund, contributing to trail
maintenance and advocacy (we are affiliated with the Jefferson
Trails Coalition), etc. Our first order of business will be to
offer local runners more opportunities to race in Jefferson County.
